Liftomatic Material Handling Inc. (Buffalo Grove, Ill.) offers a mechanical lift truck attachment for handling 30-, 55- and 85-gallon steel drums. The attachment, which fits directly to the forks, uses a “Parrot-Beak”

clamping system and cushioned belt cradles to safely engage steel open-top and tight-head drums weighing 1,500 pounds each.

No hydraulic or electrical connections are required, says the company, and the unit requires little maintenance. “Weather-Beak” coating allows the attachment to be used in hazardous conditions. Single- and double-drum versions, as well as spark-resistant clamps and EE/EX configurations, are also available, according to Liftomatic.
